Student Leadership Development/Training
CCA Peer Mediators

Student leadership development and training is provided throughout the school year to address issues that hinder the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all students. The following are among the opportunities made available.

 o   Kindness Matters

The Kindness Matters Campaign is designed to reinforce students that display kind deeds. The project includes the signing of a pledge card, receiving a gel bracelet, and recognizing identified students with t-shirts for showcasing kind deeds.  Fifth grade students are the target of this campaign.

o   Move2Stand

Middle and high schools students are trained to become change agents against anti-social norms that have become more prevalent in the community.  Selected students spend one day learning strategies to combat bullying behaviors.

o   Peer Mediation Training

Students at all grade levels are trained to understand the nature of conflict and the steps to peaceful resolution. Training occurs on school campus with a cross section of students chosen by school personnel to mediate a conflict before it escalates to more physical aggression

o   Youth Summit

New this year will be a Youth Summit at which high school students will be trained to become catalyst in fostering a healthier school climate from perceptions reflected on the TDOE School Climate Survey.

o   Youth Conference

This annual event will provide factual information on pertinent teen issues for the purpose of equipping students to make healthy choices and resist temptations that could prove to be detrimental to their personal development.
