Hamilton County Middle College High School

The Hamilton County Middle College High School (MCHS) opened in 2001 and currently has an enrollment of approximately 112 students in grades 10-12. MCHS represents a collaborative effort between the Hamilton County Department of Education and Chattanooga State. The Middle College High School, located on the main campus of Chattanooga State, is an innovative model that allows students to get both high school and college credit while completing high school. Students also have the opportunity to earn their associate degree along with earning their high school diploma.

The Middle College is, therefore, a school of opportunity for all students who possess academic potential but are dissatisfied with the traditional high school setting - and serves as a launch pad to further and greater achievement. MCHS students will have access to special guidance and mentoring programs, an enriched curriculum and instruction that affords students the opportunity to earn high school and college units simultaneously.
