Textbooks
Textbooks are adopted on a 6-year cycle. Textbooks must be approved by the Tennessee Department of Education and are typically subject-specific.
During the adoption process, Hamilton County convenes textbook committees, comprised of adminsitrators and teachers, to review approved textbooks for eligible subjects. The committees then make a recommendation to the school board for approval.
Once the school board adopts the textbook, the decision is made whether or not to purchase the new textbooks based on available funding.
