School Transfer Option
Students residing in Hamilton County are zoned to schools close to their homes with transportation provided by the system in most cases. Hamilton County Department of Education does, however, offer an option to attend other schools if you meet certain criteria.
2012-2013
Hardship Transfer Request – Application period is May 2, 2012 – June 15, 2012
- These requests include medical needs and other priority situations.
- The criteria for this type of request is very limited.
- Transportation is not provided for these transfers.
- Students may not ride a Hamilton County Bus to or from school on a Hardship Transfer.
Applications for this transfer option will be available at each school and at the Central Office after May 1, 2012. Applications need to be turned in to the Central Office by the deadline listed above.

Note: Students in system-wide exceptional education programs will have their school assignment determined by their Individualized Education Program as determined by their “IEP” Team meeting.
