HCDE Hires Students as Teachers

4/21/2011

In 2007, Superintendent Dr. Jim Scales implemented a program in which the top 10 percent of HCDE graduating seniors were given a contract for employment if they elected to participate in a college-level education program and obtain a teaching license. Certificates are handed out each year to the top 10 percent of each graduating class at the Superintendent's Honors Banquet in March.

This year, the "Grow Your Own" program has the first three candidates returning to the district as teachers for the 2011-2012 school year.

Hamilton County Department of Education welcomes Amanda Hudson, Kaylan Cline, and Callie Lafleur as the first eligible candidates for teaching positions.
