Howard Students Receive TVA Scholarship

Alisha Toran and Yasmeen Cole, 2010 graduates from Howard School of Academics and Technology, were recently awarded the TVA Employee Partner Scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior from Howard who plans on pursuing a college degree in math, science or technology.
In order to apply for this scholarship, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and write a two page essay. The students who receive the TVA scholarship must maintain a 2.5 GPA while in college as well as pursue a major in math, science or technology.
Alisha will be attending Tennessee State University and majoring in nursing, while Yasmeen will be attending The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and majoring in Biochemistry.
Both students graduated in the top 10% of their 2010 graduating class. The scholarship is worth $4,000 and is renewable each semester the applicant meets the requirements.
