Six Hamilton County National Merit Semifinalists
Chattanooga, TN -- The Hamilton County Department of Education is pleased to recognize six 2012 National Merit Semifinalists from Hamilton County schools. These six seniors will be recognized during the October 27th School Board meeting.
Six students from four Hamilton County schools were recently notified by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation that they qualified for this prestigious recognition based upon their performance on the October, 2010 PSAT test. This distinguished honor places these students among a very elite group of students nationwide.
Hamilton County Schools National Merit Semifinalists include:
- Zachary McCormick (East Hamilton School)
- Nicholas Page (East Hamilton School)
- Samuel Rogers (Middle College High School at Chattanooga State)
- Meagan Stanfield (Chattanooga School of Arts and Sciences)
- Morgan Stanfield (Chattanooga School of Arts and Sciences)
- Adam Stark (Signal Mountain Middle/High School)
About 1.5 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools entered the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
