Alternative Licensure Program

Hamilton County Schools, in collaboration with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, is seeking individuals who may be interested in an alternative route to licensure in order to teach in our district. For the 2007- 2008 school year, we will be directing our recruitment efforts toward filling critical teaching needs in the following areas: high school Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, K-12 Spanish, and K-12 Special Education.

To be eligible for alternative licensure, you must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, have a 2.5 GPA, and pass Praxis I. In addition, you must meet ONE of the following requirements: an acceptable major in the content area, 24 hours in content area, or pass Praxis II in content area.
