HCDE offers an attractive and affordable benefits package to all employees. The
information contained below defines the types of benefits available to each classification
of employee: Certified (Teachers) and Classified (Support Staff).

Benefits coverage for comprehensive medical insurance, dental reimbursement plans,
and life insurance begins on the first day of employment for Certified Employees
and on the 1st of the month following 30 days of active employment for Classified
Employees. Employees select their coverage plan - either Blue Cross or Cigna. Open
enrollment for election of benefits coverage options begins in October of each year.
Newly hired employees receive a benefits information package during their orientation
session, which explains in greater detail the coverage options listed above.
Newly hired Certified Personnel (teachers) receive intensive training during their
first year of employment through the New Teacher Network program. Veteran teachers
have the opportunity to become state-certified Mentors through our Mentor Training
program.
