Public Education Foundation (PEF)
Public Education Foundation The Public Education Foundation (PEF) was established
in 1988 with a straightforward mission to challenge, support and improve Hamilton
County public schools so all students succeed in learning and in life. PEF sponsors
a number of annual and year-round programs that provide professional development
and training for teachers and future leaders. PEF has been a partner to the Hamilton
County Department of Education in working to improve all of the district’s high
schools, bringing significant financial support from the Carnegie Corporation. PEF
has also been a partner with HCDE and the Benwood Foundation in an initiative to
transform Hamilton County’s most-challenged elementary schools. In just the last
six years, PEF has provided more than $30 million in grant and program support to
Hamilton County Public Schools.
