By accepting enrollment in Hamilton County Schools Pre-Kindergarten program you
must comply with attendance policy set forth by the state of Tennessee. Attendance
is required and expected. Students are expected to be on time and to remain until
the end of the day. Please note that Hamilton County pre-kindergarten programs are

According to State Compulsory Attendance Law, “Every parent, guardian, or other
person residing within the State of Tennessee, having control or charge of any child
or children between the ages of six (or under) and seventeen, both inclusive, shall
cause such children to attend public or private day school, and in event of failure
to do so, shall be subject to the penalties hereinafter provided.”
State legislation, passed in 1996, states that when a parent enrolls his or her
child in school, and the child is less than six years old and attends school for
six weeks, the child then comes under the jurisdiction of the State Compulsory Attendance
Law, as stated above.
It is extremely important that children begin good attendance habits early in life.
Research confirms that many times a child’s success or failure in school is directly
related to their attendance.
You can contribute to the success of your child by helping him or her to maintain
regular school attendance.
