Celebrating Read Across America
Read Across America is a nationwide event designed to encourage reading, foster literacy, and cultivate a love of books among people of all ages. Created by the National Education Association (NEA), this celebration coincides with the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss, born on March 2. Schools across the country commemorate the day with various activities to inspire a passion for reading.

Emily McDonald Wins Presidential Award
Emily McDonald, a math teacher at University High, has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) by the White House. Established in 1983, the PAEMST is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Government to K-12 math and science teachers. Winners are selected for their teaching excellence and ability to engage students in STEM subjects.

CTE Month: Cosmetology at Sequoyah
Early Technical College at Sequoyah High School offers an exceptional opportunity for students interested in the beauty industry through its Cosmetology program. The program provides a comprehensive introduction to essential hair, nails, makeup, and skin care skills, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in hair styling, cutting, color, manicuring, pedicuring, facials, waxing, and more. Beyond technical expertise, students also acquire life skills such as communication, self-confidence, and professionalism, preparing them for success in the industry and beyond.
