Hamilton County Schools Exceptional Education Department commits to partnering with families and community agencies to ensure the spirit and implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act by creating, fostering, and supporting inclusive environments, services, and programs that meet the unique individual needs of all eligible special education students, including those students identified as gifted.

Hamilton County Schools offers services for eligible students including access to general education, small group instruction, special classes, vocational training, enrichment classes, and home-bound schooling.  These students must be deemed eligible for such services by a specific team of professionals, with input by parents and sometimes students.  Services are outlined by these teams in Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) in keeping with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, procedures, and policies.
