Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teacher Association

(CHCRTA)

The Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association (CHCRTA) is a non-profit organization of retired educators established on May 16, 1957. CHCRTA is affiliated with the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association and National Education Association Retired. CHCRTA works to provide:

  • Opportunities for fellowship, community service, and give timely information concerning legislation affecting retired teachers.
  • Future educator scholarships to HCDE students funded by donations from Chattanooga and Hamilton County retired teachers.
  • Informational workshops for HCDE certified teachers.
  • Local members who are working for retiree benefits by keeping in touch with legislators about the needs of retired teachers.
  • Newsletters published four times a year with necrology included mailed to members and posted on Hamilton County Schools website.
  • Four general meetings a year. One is the annual picnic held in August.
  • Informational program presentation for retirees.
    Four open meetings of the Board of Directors.
