The Hixson High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) accomplished a first in the Unit’s 46 year history! Headquarters Air Force JROTC recently announced the unit as a recipient of both the Air Force JROTC Distinguished Unit with Merit Award and the Silver Star Community Service with Excellence Award for academic year 2018-­2019.

Middle Valley Elementary 2nd grade teacher, Lauren Pritchett, was recently recognized by the Fund for Teachers and the Public Education Foundation as a 2019 Fellow. She was awarded almost $5,000 to examine the economic and relational nature of bridges across the United Kingdom in order to lead second graders in a parallel study of Chattanooga's bridges and the science, people, and history behind them.
