Erin Glenn, Tyner

Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlight is Erin Glenn, Future Ready Institutes Coach for Tyner Academy. Ms. Glenn, who has worked in Hamilton County Schools for 13 years, spent her summer working with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee to renovate a health science classroom for the Future Ready Institute of Health Sciences.

Ms. Glenn, along with school administrators, the lead health science teacher, and representatives from BlueCross BlueShield, held planning meetings throughout May and June and executed their renovation plans in July. Earlier this week, the school held a reopening ceremony to celebrate the completion of the new classroom. This space will be used for the Sports and Human Performance pathway of the school’s Future Ready Institute of Health Sciences. Students interested in rehabilitation careers and exercise science will have the equipment needed, like treatment and taping tables, to get hands-on experience to prepare for clinicals their senior year.

“One of the best things about my job is the opportunity to connect community stakeholders with student interests,” said Ms. Glenn. “Future Ready Institutes provide an invaluable experience to high school students. Not only do they learn firsthand from experts in the field, but students are also equipped with insights that support multiple paths of study. Whether in a job shadow, work-based learning setting, or internship, students will graduate with a clear understanding of the skills and post-secondary coursework required to continue in their chosen path of study. Working with stakeholders to coordinate these opportunities for students is definitely a highlight of my job.”

The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Ms. Glenn on our team to support our students!
