Beverly Stone & Starla Terry, MVE

Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlights are Beverly Stone and Starla Terry, school nurses at Middle Valley Elementary. Nurse Beverly and Nurse Starla, who are both in their 13th year with Hamilton County Schools, launched the COVID-19 Call Center in March to help answer employee questions regarding illness and exposures to COVID-19.

The school nurses spent the summer running the call center and following up with employees who needed information, including Telehealth services and testing sites. Now that school is back in session, both Nurse Beverly and Nurse Starla are working as school nurses at Middle Valley Elementary and continue to help out with the call center on the weekends.

“We both really enjoy talking to our employees and assisting them,” said Nurse Beverly. “A lot of times they are nervous and upset, and being able to alleviate stress and worry for them makes us both feel like we are accomplishing something positive.”

The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Nurse Beverly and Nurse Starla on our team to support our staff and students!
