Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlight is Taylor Blanks, an educational assistant for North Hamilton County Elementary School. Ms. Blanks is being recognized for her ability to connect with and positively engage students of any age.
“Taylor is a very impressive and engaging teacher with any age group,” said Brice Winkles, a community member. “She has worked with children for five years now and is very passionate about the overall success of every single child. Her positivity is contagious!”
In addition to being an educational assistant at North Hamilton County Elementary, Ms. Blanks also fills in at other North River Learning Community schools when needed. This school year has presented challenges for how students learn and connect, but Ms. Blanks has worked hard to be a supporter to each and every student.
“Working in a public school district in the middle of a pandemic has not only been challenging for me, but for the kids,” said Ms. Blanks. “This pandemic has affected lives so much, and especially the education of our future, and it is so important that they have a supporter at school through it all, and that is exactly my goal when I wake up each day and see them. The children that I see every day are doing well with adjusting to being in a school environment where you have to social distance, and wear masks. It is so fulfilling that I get to help them through it.”
Ms. Blanks adds, “My lifelong goal is to become a teacher, while school is expensive, working for Hamilton County has made this possible by developing the grow your own program that helps get educators like myself, get through college with a lot of help. Thank you, Hamilton County Schools.”
The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Ms. Blanks on our team to support our students!
