The district presents the special shirts to individuals for efforts that positively impact Hamilton County Schools and the children we serve.

“I want to do something in computer science and engineering when I graduate, but there are so many different directions you could go that it can be confusing,” Akins said. “The exposure to the different options in engineering and computer science is helping me to evaluate opportunities available to me.”

Akins has shared her experience with the Institute of Engineering and Computer Science with touring groups at Red Bank High and spoken to area Senators and State Representatives about the Future Ready Institute program. Lily also represented students in a presentation at the February meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Education. “Lily is a motivated student leader and a huge asset to her institute,” said Olivia Bagby, district coach over Future Ready Institutes.

“There are more opportunities with the institute,” Akins added. “It does not limit me to the standard high school curriculum.”

“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.
