McNabb is one of only two female wrestlers at the school. This wrestling season was McNabb’s first year on the wrestling team at Sale Creek.

“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members in providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.

“Wrestling is hard work - it is very hard,” McNabb said. “Wrestling takes a lot out of you and is very physically demanding, but it is so much fun!”

McNabb’s grandmother became very sick and passed away on the second day of the state tournament this year. She had to make the difficult decision to go back and continue at the state wrestling championships the next day.

“It was really hard for me to do, but I know she would have wanted me to continue, so I went back to the tournament,” McNabb said. “Wrestling distracts me from stressful everyday life, and it is just such a relief for me to go out and practice something that I love doing.”

McNabb brought home a fifth-place medal for her efforts and certainly made her grandmother proud.
