Section 504Section 504 guarantees certain rights to people with disabilities. It was one of the first U.S. federal civil rights laws offering protection for people with disabilities.

Title VIThe Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

Title IXNo person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.


The Hamilton County Department of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its program or activities. The Hamilton County Department of Education offers classes in many career and technical education program areas under its open admissions policy. Specifically, the Hamilton County Department of Education offers admissions based on selective criteria in CTE, Special Education, Digital Arts & Design, Mechatronics, Welding, etc. through a nondiscriminatory process. Lack of English Language proficiency will not be a barrier to admission and participation in career and technical education programs.
