Emily Warren

Today’s #HCSHeroes Spotlight is Emily Warren, a 5th grade teacher at Red Bank Elementary. Mrs. Warren, who has taught for eight years, is being recognized for her commitment to making this school year as “normal” as possible for her students.

“Mrs. Warren makes it as if the students are sitting with her in the classroom,” said Crystal Sykora, a parent. “She has a warm welcome, and is very informative with the changes occurring. Mrs. Warren reaches out to her parents to see how things are and if there is anything needed. She still bends over backwards for her students and we are very grateful to have her during this out of normal school year.”

Despite the challenges of remote learning this year, Mrs. Warren is still seeing her students make progress while keeping classes engaging and fun.

“This year has been quite different as I spend half my day teaching in person and the other half teaching online,” said Mrs. Warren. “To the best of my ability I have tried to make this year as ‘normal’ as possible and to encourage my students to become their best selves. I welcome my students into my classroom with music playing and a greeting. We laugh while we learn and build community while encouraging our peers. Room transformations at the end of literacy units have added to the excitement of learning, as well as deepening the understanding of the subject material. I enjoy watching my students collaborate and assist one another.”

Mrs. Warren adds, “Seeing them gain academic knowledge as well as interpersonal skills keeps me energized and anticipating each new day!”

The efforts of our teachers and staff are truly heroic, and we are proud to have people like Mrs. Warren on our team to support our students!
