According to the HCS Reentry & Continuous Learning Plan, bus transportation will be affected depending on which phase the district is currently in during the school year.
Phase 1: All schools are closed. Risk of spreading COVID-19 is significant. In this phase, all schools will be closed, so there will not be a need for bus transportation.

Phase 2: Reduced on-campus hours. Risk of spreading COVID-19 is moderate. In this phase, bus rider capacity will be limited. Riders will be assigned a seat and distanced by placing an empty seat between passengers not from the same household. Drivers will be required to disinfect the buses between routes, and masks are mandatory for riders, drivers, and attendants. Families must agree to these policies for the children to ride the bus in Phase 2.

Phase 3: Schools are open, with some short-term closures in some buildings. Risk of spreading COVID-19 is minimal. In this phase, riders will be assigned a seat, and as feasible, will be distanced by placing an empty seat between riders not from the same household. Drivers will be required to disinfect the buses between routes, and masks are mandatory for riders, drivers, and attendants. Families must agree to these policies for the children to ride the bus in Phase 3.

Phase 4: All schools are open. No risk of spreading COVID-19. In this phase, normal bus transportation is provided with standard procedures and expectations. No personal protection equipment is required for drivers, riders, or attendants. Drivers, attendants, and riders are encouraged to stay home if they feel sick or are symptomatic and continue regular use of hand sanitizer and hand washing.

Currently, our bus drivers are testing and timing new routes. Once specific route information and pick-up times are available, you will be able to find this on the district's transportation page.
