Amazon magnifies a student's excitement at the announcementScience, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) supplies are not easy to come by in an elementary school. It became much easier for students at Hardy Elementary recently when Amazon Fulfillment volunteers surprised the school with $10,000 in STEM supplies for the school's STEAM lab. Not only did the volunteers bring the tools for the lab but they stayed to work with students at the school.

Travis Maynard, Amazon’s director of operations in Chattanooga, announced the surprise donation to the over 400 children at a school assembly.

“We want to make sure the teachers have the tools and resources needed to inspire children to learn, innovate and imagine to their fullest potential,” Maynard said before the curtains on the school stage opened to reveal the supplies and Amazon volunteers. “With that, I am proud to share that we have a special delivery of $10,000 in STEM supplies for Hardy Elementary.”

The supplies donated by Amazon included a 3-D printer, microscopes, robots, planting kits, Makey Makey STEM Packs, a chicken egg incubator, a skeleton and much more.

After the assembly, volunteers from Amazon’s Chattanooga fulfillment center visited the Hardy Elementary STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) lab to help second-grade children work with the equipment in hands-on projects.
