Five HCS Schools Recognized for RTI2-B Implementation
Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 7, 2022) – The Tennessee Tiered Supports Center (TSC) recognizes schools across the state for successful implementation of Response to Instruction and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2-B). This year, five HCS schools were recognized with various awards. These schools were dedicated to improving student learning and strengthening positive behavior in their school cultures.
The Howard School is the only high school in Tennessee to receive the highest distinction for RTI2-B implementation. Howard earned Gold medal status for their “Tiger Way” initiative.
“Our work around fostering a positive school culture and climate, active student engagement, and overall school connectedness has been recognized and highly commended across the state!” said Dr. Le Andrea Ware, principal of Howard High School. “We are so grateful for every student, faculty, staff, parent, business partner, and community supporters who helped us accomplish this distinct goal! We will continue to press forward to shine in all areas at The Amazing Howard School!”
Several HCS schools earned Gold and Bronze medals as a Model of Demonstration (MOD) school for RTI2-B. These schools implement one or more tiers of the RTI2-B program with high fidelity and have applied the framework to improve school climate and culture, student engagement, and school connectedness.
One of the Gold medal recipients is Clifton Hills Elementary for their CUBS program, which stands for Come Ready, Use Respect, Be Responsible, and Stay Safe.
Battle Academy and East Brainerd Elementary School earned a Bronze medal distinction for their respective STARS (Self Control, Take Pride, Act Responsibly, Respect, and Safety) and SOAR (Safety, Ownership, Aspiration, and Respect) initiatives.
Daisy Elementary was awarded an RTI2-B School of Recognition. A School of Recognition, such as Daisy, is actively engaged in the initial stages of implementing the RTI2-B program.
