Chattanooga, Tenn. (Sept. 21, 2021) -- Thrasher Elementary School received the National Blue Ribbon Schools award today.
325 schools were recognized across the country with the National Blue Ribbon Schools award for closing educational gaps based on a school’s overall academic performance.
Thrasher Elementary was one of six schools in Tennessee that received this prestigious recognition.
“At HCS we are committed to ensuring all children thrive, and that starts with creating a safe environment for all students,” said Dr. Nakia Towns, Hamilton County Schools Interim Superintendent. “We are proud of Thrasher Elementary and their dedication to student achievement and closing education gaps.”
The National Blue Ribbon Schools award recognizes the work of teachers, students, families, and community partners for creating safe and welcoming school environments. The award has been presented for 39 years and has been awarded approximately 10,000 times to more than 9,000 schools.
Thrasher was honored as an Exemplary High-Performing School, which means it is among the state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
“Our teachers have worked relentlessly to create an environment where all students feel heard and supported,” said Jeff Paulson, Thrasher Elementary Principal. “We are grateful for the opportunity to provide our students with engaging educational experiences and continue our mission for student advancement.”
