Graduation day is finally here with the first planned for Sequoyah High at Soddy Daisy High’s Stadium this evening. There are another four set for Friday evening and the rest will take place on Saturday.

Due to the attendance limitations under social distancing requirements, the concern for those with underlying health conditionsand those in vulnerable age groups, we understand that some family members and friends will not be able to attend graduation ceremonies.  The district has worked with schools to make sure that all graduations will be streamed live online on YouTube or Facebook on individual school stream locations to give these family members and friends access to the events. We hope this service is valuable for those unable to attend. We regret that limiting attendance was necessary, but we have done everything possible to make sure we could provide a graduation experience for the Class of 2020.  Special thanks to EPB for helping to provide fiber optic lines to some of our schools to assist the district in making the ceremonies available online for family members and friends.

The ceremonies will follow health and safety guidelines and recommendations of the CDC, Tennessee Department of Education, and Governor Bill Lee. The guidelines will require the district to limit attendance to the event to provide the recommended social distancing between family groups. The suggested venue of an outdoor stadium limits guests to the facility capacity seating family groups six feet apart and at least three rows between the groups.

The school district is following guidance from the CDC and the local health department in planning graduation ceremonies. View the CDC guidelines on individuals who should not attend graduations and on protecting yourself and others from the spread of Covid-19.
