Lookout Valley Middle High School Principal Lee Ann McBryar Celebrates Community and Academic Opportunity
Chattanooga, TN – Lookout Valley Middle High School is proud to celebrate the dynamic leadership and dedication of its principal, Lee Ann McBryar, who has been a champion for students for the past five years. With a deep commitment to fostering academic excellence and a close-knit community atmosphere, Principal McBryar has created a nurturing environment where students thrive.
Having served ten years in Hamilton County Schools, Lee Ann McBryar's journey in education is marked by her three years as an instructional coach and two years as an assistant principal before transitioning to her current role. Under her guidance, the school has successfully navigated challenges such as resource sharing in a middle high school model while innovatively expanding its curriculum to include a variety of exciting electives.
"Our goal is to offer a high-quality education to our students," says McBryar. "We're passionate about creating cool electives that spark students’ interests and broaden their horizons." The school offers electives ranging from mythology to arts, ensuring a comprehensive and diverse educational experience.
Lookout Valley Middle High School, though small with an enrollment of 330 students, boasts a vibrant and talented band. The school’s commitment to arts and culture is further evident in its theater program, revived three years ago, which is currently practicing to excite the community with a production of "The Wizard of Oz."
Innovation extends beyond academics with Lookout Valley's collaboration with Novonix, a cutting-edge synthetic lithium technology company. This partnership provides students unique career exploration opportunities in the CTE program, aligning with the school’s motto: "Small School, Big Opportunities."
Principal McBryar's leadership is characterized by a deep connection with her students and the community. She emphasizes the importance of knowing each student personally and fostering an environment where students feel seen and valued. This is evident by the comfort and ease students walk into her office to say hi or ask for a spare Chromebook charger. "When students walk into the office, it's crucial that they feel recognized and understood," she notes. “Our community wants to feel like they are a part of something, and at Lookout Valley Middle High, they are. My goal is to know our families as well as our students. I cannot serve our students and families without knowing them.”
As Lookout Valley Middle High School continues to grow and evolve under Principal McBryar’s leadership, the commitment to serving its community remains steadfast. The school is not only a place of learning but a vibrant community hub where students are encouraged to explore their potential, supported by a dedicated staff and an inclusive environment.
