Dr. Johnson presents the shirt to Angela ColvinAngela Colvin, a bus driver for Hamilton County Schools, received an “I Am Hamilton” t-shirt for her work to keep children happy and taking time to communicate with parents when her bus was running late. The district presents the special shirts to individuals for efforts that positively impact Hamilton County Schools and the children we serve.

A parent posted a message on Facebook about her children’s first experience riding the bus in a new community and how Angela Colvin made the day special. There was a problem that required taking a Kindergarten child back to school on this particular day after the afternoon route had started. The return to the school caused the bus to be late getting children home that afternoon.

“When Ms. Angela opened the bus door I was greeted with smiling, laughing boys who didn’t seem a bit out of sorts,” the parent wrote. Ms. Colvin promptly introduced herself and apologized for the wait the parent had experienced. “I could tell immediately she sets the tone on that bus and it is full of laughter, comfort, and love,” the parent added. “I sure hope that tonight when she finally arrives home after her extra-long route, that she knows she did an amazing job today, and she made a difference in someone's life.”

“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.
