Today, the “I am Hamilton” video feature spotlights Officer John Wigley, the school resource officer (SRO) at Soddy Daisy High School. The school SRO has become an integral part of the school campus building relationships with students and helping to provide a safe school environment for children. Officer Wigley loves working at the school where he walked the halls as a student.
“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members in providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.
“I believe being an SRO in a public school is a highly important position,” said Wigley. “Ultimately, we are to be the positive role model that some students may not have.”
If you visit Soddy Daisy High School you will most likely see Officer Wigley in the hallways talking with teens about their day and getting to know them as individuals. He has become a fixture at Soddy Daisy High.
“He is part of the school. He came in and made an immediate impact,” said Steven Henry, principal, Soddy Daisy High. “Just by his presence and his involvement he makes a difference. He builds relationships with the students, so they feel comfortable coming to him and talking to him.”

You can nominate a graduate, teacher, parent, student, support worker, community member, or anyone playing a role in a school in the district. Also, include your name, school or location, and title.
