Tammy Baxter, parent at Soddy Daisy High“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members in providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.

Today, “I am Hamilton” spotlights our first parent Tammy Baxter, an active and involved parent at Soddy Daisy High Schools in the North River Learning Community. Baxter is involved in activities involving her daughters at Soddy Daisy, active in parent volunteer groups, regularly seen at Hamilton County Board of Education meetings, and a voice for parents in parent advisory activities for her school and the district.

“It is important for parents, the community, students, teachers, and staff to all be a team,” Baxter said. “It is going to take all of us working together to get our schools where we really want them to be for our children.”

Baxter has been the band uniform mom, an officer for the band boosters, an officer in the PTA, the parent representative for the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Group, and a regular at any activity her daughters may participate in during high school.

“I make it a priority to support my schools and support my kids,” Baxter added. “Hopefully, Ashley and Haley will look back and remember that my mom was there.”
