Chloey presented an idea to her school leaders to help encourage a young child she knew who had been affected by bullying in another state. She wanted children at Allen to write letters of encouragement to the child to show there is kindness in the world. The fifth-grade students at Allen responded by sending more than 60 letters to the young man to help him through a difficult time.

“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members in providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.

“Chloey Green is a student of outstanding character,” said Kelley Perrin, Chloey’s teacher at Allen. “She shows concern not only for friends and students at Allen Elementary and within Hamilton County but also friends that go to schools in other states. She wanted letters from Allen to show there are good, kind, empathetic kids in the world.”

Some children at Allen Elementary spent time during their recess looking up scripture verses they could share in letters to the child who had been bullied. The children hoped the verses in their letters would be an extra inspiration the young man could refer to when he is feeling down.

“I just wish everyone would always show kindness,” Chloey said. “I don’t want anyone to have to feel the way you do when you are being bullied.”

“We are proud to have Chloey as part of the Allen family, and we would like the rest of the community to know about her outstanding character, empathy, and kindness for others near and far,” added Perrin.
