Applications for a slot in the Pre-Kindergarten program in Hamilton County Schools for the 2019-2020 school year will be accepted at local schools with Pre-K classes on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
Application documents are available online now for you to download and complete. The applications will need to be turned in at the local schools on Wednesday, April 3.
Application times for schools in the system with Pre-K classes will vary and are available on the system website at www.hcde.org. The slots for Pre-K are filled based on income and space. Parents will need to provide proof of income and residence when submitting a Pre-K application. A child must be four on or before August 15, 2019, to attend Pre-K for the 2019-2020 school year.
Documents parents will need to bring to the local school to complete the registration
• A certified copy of the child’s birth certificate or officially acceptable evidence of the date of birth
• A Tennessee School Immunization Certificate available from the Hamilton County Health Department
• A photo ID of the parent or legal custodian of the child
• Proof of court-ordered custody of a child living with a divorced parent, custodian or guardian
Acceptable documents proving residency (two required)
• Lease, mortgage or deed
• Utility bill (gas, water, electric) dated in the last 30 to 60 days
• Insurance document (home, health, or life)
• A government document showing residency
Hamilton County Schools operates 42 Pre-K classrooms in 25 different locations. Each classroom has a maximum of 20 students with one teacher and one teaching assistant. Each Pre-K teacher is a certified teacher. The program is federal and state funded and designed to give children the proper foundation for kindergarten.
