The school was very successful with graduates earning ROTC scholarships. Five ROTC scholarships were awarded to students in Hamilton County. Of the five, four of those students awarded the scholarships were graduates of Sale Creek High. To emphasize the magnitude of the accomplishment, the national board that selects the ROTC scholarship winners awards only 1,000 4-year winners, and 2,000 3-year winners from across the nation each year. Thousands of highly-qualified seniors apply for these scholarships each year.

Avery Cox was one of the four Sale Creek students to receive a full-ride ROTC scholarship this year. The 2019 valedictorian of Sale Creek High, was voted “Most likely to succeed” by her classmates. She received her high school diploma and also earned 12 hours of college credit. Cox was active in the National Honors Society, and Student Council while at Sale Creek High. She will attend Tennessee Tech University this fall to study in the nursing program and plans to become a registered nurse. Cox plans to join the military after college.

“I am thankful for reaching the milestone of high school graduation,” said Cox. “I plan to continue to live by the Bible verse, 1 Peter 5:7, ‘Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you,’ as I enter the next chapter in my life.”
