Senior Spotlight: Charlie Stebbing
Chattanooga, TN- Center for Creative Arts (CCA) senior Charlie Stebbing, a Musical Theatre Major, powerhouse performer, and passionate leader, will head to Belmont University this fall to pursue Musical Theatre.
Throughout her high school journey, Stebbing lit up the stage in countless CCA productions, bringing characters to life. From Elle Woods in Legally Blonde to Judy in 9 to 5, and Penelope Pennywise in Urinetown, her talent and versatility have been inspiring. She also took on roles in Guys and Dolls, Chicago, Godspell, and more.
Stebbing's voice also carried through choir concerts, competitions, and showcases. She was a standout member of the Choo Choo Kids and winner of CCA's Idol Singing Competition. She has been a Best Leading Actress Finalist and Outstanding Female Vocalist Nominee by the Jewel Awards, and received the 9th Grade Musical Theatre Award at CCA.
Stebbing's talent and dedication didn't stop at the arts. She also excelled academically, earning a class rank of 8th and serving in various leadership roles: Parliamentarian and Vice President of the National Honor Society, President of FBLA, and Student Council Vice President (2021) and President (2024). She also served in the Yearbook Club, Model UN, Earth Club, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, and the District Student Leadership Council.
Stebbing looks back fondly on her memories from high school, sharing one of her favorites, "Opening night of Legally Blonde, when I sang 'So Much Better," she recalled. "It's the Act 1 finale, and I held a really long high note– it was pretty magical." Having participated in many clubs and extracurriculars herself, Stebbing advises incoming freshmen: "Don't be afraid to be yourself and put yourself out there. Explore all of the opportunities that interest you!"
Stebbing thanks many of her teachers for their encouragement and support along the way. "Mr. (Dean) Hogan and Mr. (Zachary) Flowers have been really supportive of me. They've given me really good advice when I've needed it in rough patches," she said. "I'm able to connect with them– they feel like more than just teachers, and I always look forward to their classes."
As she prepares to head off to Belmont in the fall, she looks forward to soaking in every moment this summer. "I want to make new memories before we all go to college. I want to try to do as much as I can here and have as much fun as possible."
Congratulations, Charlie, on all you have accomplished! We are so excited for you and your future!
