Safe Schools

The Hamilton County Board of Education has made safe schools a priority for every child and staff member. Over the last two years, the board has approved: funding for additional security personnel in schools, visitor management systems for check-in and out, electronic locking entrances with video confirmation of visitors, enhanced camera systems, and among the security measures making our schools safer places to learn and work.

  • COVID-19 – Get the latest information about the district’s COVID-19 pandemic response plus resources for parents and staff.

  • Lead Testing in Water - 53 of our schools will undergo tests for lead in drinking water. Plans are in place for the testing of water sources in buildings this summer before students return to the respective building in the fall. An interactive map is available for parents and the community to view testing results at each site.

  • School Re-Opening Task Force - As we prepare for re-opening in the fall, this group of professionals will help make sure we are ready as a school system, and it is safe for our children to return to school buildings. The task force will work closely with public health professionals to assess the issues related to COVID-19 as possible.

  • Forced Front Office Entry - 32 of our schools are undergoing construction modifications to direct visitors through the front office area upon entry to the building.

  • Student Security Officers - In the spring, the board approved the addition of seven student security officers to support school resource officers in our schools to keep our children safe.
