North River Learning Community to kick-off access to a United Way Kiosk with a community fair
The schools of the North River Learning Community will hold a community fair on Thursday, February 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Middle Valley Elementary, 1609 Thrasher Pike, Hixson. The fair will kick-off access to a United Way kiosk at Middle Valley that will be available at the school to parents, the community, and others in the North River Learning Community. The event is called North River Connects 211 and will feature free stuff, food trucks, and student performances.
The event, sponsored by the North River Learning Community, Hamilton County Schools, the United Way, and BlueCare Tennessee, will help people in the community to get connected and provide access to resources in the community able to provide help to those in need of community services. The United Way Kiosk will continue to provide access to those resources throughout the year. The 2-1-1 kiosks will provide targeted information to families and students on how to access community resources including food, health care, and insurance assistance, stable housing options, utility payment assistance, employment services, veteran services, childcare and youth services and other family-specific services and community resources.
Student performances during the event will include the Hixson High Symphony, the Middle Valley Voices and several solo artists.
Community organizations scheduled to provide information and resources at the fair include the Chattanooga Zoo, Creative Discovery Museum, local fire and police organizations, Parkridge Valley, Parkridge Hospital, United Way, Northside Neighborhood House, Soddy Daisy Food Bank, Mental Health Collective, Youth Villages, Center for Aging and Disability, Centerstone, Rick Hall Karate, and several local churches.
Three food trucks will be on-site for participants to purchase food during the event.
North River Learning Community schools include Allen Elementary, Big Ridge Elementary, Daisy Elementary, DuPont Elementary, Hixson Elementary, Hixson Middle, Hixson High, McConnell Elementary, Middle Valley Elementary, North Hamilton County Elementary, Soddy Elementary, Soddy Daisy Middle, Soddy Daisy High, Loftis Middle, Sale Creek Middle/High, and Sequoyah High.
