Chattanooga, Tenn. (Dec. 13, 2021) -- Hamilton County Schools (HCS) held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially recognize the opening of the International Welcome Center on December 1, 2021.
The International Welcome Center (IWC) will provide international students and their families with a safe and inclusive environment. The IWC connects community partners and support services with families and students that are new to our school district.
“We are thrilled to further our mission of creating pathways to bright futures for all students. We are thankful for the partnership of the community partners who made this center possible,” said Dr. Nakia Towns, Interim Superintendent. “We believe that every family entering our doors has a unique set of needs, and we are grateful that through this collaboration, we are better positioned to accommodate those needs.”
The IWC will support students and families by facilitating enrollment and communication, family engagement, learning opportunities, connection to community resources, and academic growth of our English Language Learners. Students will be provided learning supports and community resource connections so the entire family is set up to thrive as they transition to HCS.
The IWC is centrally located in our district at 1161 W 40th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37409. The IWC currently serves students and families by appointment Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you would like to request services through the IWC or to refer a student, please email
