Chattanooga, Tenn. -- To celebrate and kick off the 2022-23 school year, Hamilton County Schools (HCS) will host its fifth annual Back to School Bash Saturday, August 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Horizon Pavilion. Participating families will receive a free backpack and school supplies while supplies last. Attendees will enjoy performances and fun activities from area school and community groups.
Families attending will have the opportunity to participate in many activities and learn about important community resources such as:
- Learning & Fun: Enjoy a mini-Literacy Festival featuring learning activities and resources with HCS educators and community partners such as the Chattanooga Library and Read 20; ArtsBuild will have an interactive art exhibit; Chattanooga Zoo will have an animal focused STEM activity; Good News Club will be offering face painting; and so much more!

Health & Wellness: BlueCare Tennessee will be offering well check screenings for students who are BlueCare members; the Hamilton County Health Department, Health Connect America, Cempa Community Care, LifeSpring Community Health, and others will offer health resources for families; Scenic City Therapy Pets will have therapy dogs on site; and Operation Get Active will have an inflatable soccer field for kids to play.

Resources: There will be many community resources for families available at the event from energy assistance programs to job opportunities.

Food: The YMCA will offer sack lunches for kids and Greater Emmanuel Church will host a cookout for families. Food trucks will also be there to add to the delicious food options.
This event is made possible through the generous sponsorship and partnership of BlueCare Tennessee, UTC, McNabb Center, Top Flight, and support from over 45 other community partner organizations.
Families do not need to sign up to attend. School supplies and activities will be available from 10am-1pm while supplies last. Free parking is only available in the parking lot immediately surrounding the First Horizon Pavilion. Other paid parking options are available closeby.
