Homeless Family Resources

The McKinney-Vento Act states that homeless children and youth must have access to the same free appropriate public education provided to all other students.

Hamilton County Department of Education Family Transition Program provides the following:

Essential school supplies, textbooks, and clothing

Coordination of services between the schools and agencies to meet the varied needs of the student and their families.

Transportation to school for students living in shelters.

Information to parents or guardians regarding their children’s rights as homeless individuals and the resources available.

Offers parents/guardians with an avenue of dispute resolution regarding their child’s rights.
