MGT Facilities Report - Update

January 2020 - Option C

Future Ready Facilities

The children in Hamilton County Schools deserve the best education possible, and that includes access to excellent learning environments. One of the focus areas of our Future Ready 2023 strategic plan is Efficient and Effective Operations. We understand quality school environments are key to delivering high-quality education. From building maintenance to technology infrastructure, our operations must help to provide a safe and healthy environment that assists in student learning and accelerating student achievement.

Facilities Study

Facilities are a significant challenge in our community. To address how we meet this challenge in the future, MGT, a nationally recognized company specializing in school facilities, is assessing our school buildings and will provide an outside perspective on how we can efficiently improve our schools. Factors for this facilities audit included each schools' enrollment, capacity, utilization, physical condition, educational program suitability, and technology infrastructure.

MGT Preliminary Facilities Report

The new MGT report is called Option C and is also not a final report from the company. The new Option C uses information shared by the community at the community forums in December and the survey for the preliminary report shared last summer by MGT. There will be additional community meetings later this month to allow the community to provide thoughts regarding the new Option C report. MGT will use the additional community meetings to revise their report before completing a final report to the board to be presented in early March. The board has not approved a plan to move forward regarding facilities in the district. The report from MGT will be a tool for the Hamilton County Board of Education to use as Blueprint 2030 is developed that will set facility priorities for the district over the next ten years.
