Today, “I am Hamilton” spotlights Paul Baker, a fifth-grade student at Thrasher Elementary. Paul has been on a mission to buy books for other elementary children. He earned over $500 to buy books and delivered them to children at Calvin Donaldson Elementary, Hardy Elementary, Orchard Knob Elementary, Woodmore Elementary, and Alpine Crest Elementary.
“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members in providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.
“Paul has organized all of the details associated with this campaign, and he simply wants kindergarten friends in our local schools to learn to love reading as much as he does,” said Fannie Moore, assistant principal at Thrasher Elementary. “We are proud to have Paul in our Thrasher family, and we would like the rest of the community to know about his giving spirit.”
Paul worked to raise the money needed to buy the books, bought the books for the children, and called the principals of all the schools he planned to take books for kindergarten children and worked out details for delivery.
