Today, the “I am Hamilton” video feature spotlights Jinlin Baker, a teacher in a multi-handicap classroom at Red Bank Elementary School. Baker fell in love with her classroom of special children when she first walked into the room. She has now spent 14 years in her labor of love helping children to discover their own unique way to communicate, learn, and grow.
“I am Hamilton” spotlights the contributions of alumni, teachers, parents, students, support workers, and community members in providing opportunities for children in the classrooms of Hamilton County Schools. Better opportunities for children today mean a brighter future filled with possibilities for our graduates, their families, and the community.
“I heard about this classroom, so I came and observed and felt right away that this is where I need to be,” said Baker. “My purpose is to make this a safe and loving place for kids.”
Baker is challenged each day to find the one method or resource to reach a child. “I look for the one thing that will bring out language or bring out communication or help a child to walk,” added Baker.
