Lane College awards scholarships to 30 seniors

Lane College has awarded the “Power of Potential” scholarship to 30 seniors from seven high schools in Hamilton County Schools. Lane College is a private, Christian, historically black college in Jackson, TN. The Power of Potential Scholarship is available to any Hamilton County high school senior who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who is excited about attending a historically black college or university, and who demonstrates perseverance and leadership. The interested seniors must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, principal, community or business leader, and complete the Lane College application for admission.

2019 Power of Potential Scholarship recipients:

· Brainerd High: Keichemriya Jones, Daisha Draper, Tekilra Rice, and Jamaal Ward
· East Ridge High: Keyonna Brock, Tyreka Carter, Stephon Galloway, Nico Johnikin, Casiee Jordan, Yahinness Lum, Alonzo Russell, and Ana Stanford
· Hixson High: Destiny Davis, Michael Davis, Kendrea Harris, Zy’Drea Hunter, A’Nautica Smith, Tarhanysia Thomas
· Ooltewah High: Lariyana Boyd
· Red Bank High: Ra’Kayla Ireyon Dansby
· Soddy Daisy High: LaTauvia Rogers
· Tyner Academy: Breanna Baldwin, Zavier Favors, Kenedi Hester, Daisha Hicks, Keionna McCutcheon, Chyna Price, Jalah Taylor, Taesha Trimble, Christian Williams

Dr. Logan Hampton, the president of Lane College, is excited to find more scholars like Lane’s Student Government President, Kadarius Scott, currently a junior at the college and a graduate of Brainerd High School.
